YWCA Minneapolis Taps Six To Join Board of Directors

(Minneapolis, Minn.) – YWCA Minneapolis is pleased to name Elizabeth Bierman, Amy Dragland-Johnson, Kim Ford, Hyun Mee Graves, Kimpa Moss and Amy Phenix to its Board of Directors, while bidding farewell to retiring board members, Kathy Longo, Remi Kent, Deborah Hilke, Lana Slavitt and Susan Williams.

Elizabeth Bierman is the Director of Engineering for Comcast Twin Cities Region, which includes oversight of engineering operations in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Kansas and Missouri. She holds a Bachelor of Science in aerospace engineering and a Master of Science in systems engineering from Iowa State University, Ames, IA. She additionally earned a Master of Business Administration from Bentley University in Waltham, MA. Bierman resides with her husband, David, and daughters, Lauren and Avery, in Mahtomedi.

Amy Dragland-Johnson is self-employed as a consultant, having served as Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President for Dollar Tree Corporation/Family Dollar from 2019-2021. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in organizational management and communication studies from Gustavus Adolphus College and a Master of Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas. She resides in Minneapolis with her husband, Bo, and their Maine Coon cat, Lecco.

Kim Ford is a freelance artist and educator. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in American studies from Yale University. As principal of Kim Ford Designs, her most recent post has been as a Props Mistress for opera productions at the University of Minnesota. Ford is the mother of three children and is a resident of Minneapolis.

Hyun Mee Graves is the Marketing Vice President for Ecolab Global Pest Elimination. She holds a Master of Business Administration in marketing from the University of Michigan Ross School and Bachelor of Science in statistics from the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science & Arts, both in Ann Arbor, MI. Mee and her family make their home in Edina.

Kimpa Moss is Partner and Chief Operations Officer for Lurie, LLP, responsible for serving clients’ needs through strategic and operational positioning. She holds a Master of Science in taxation from DePaul University in Chicago; and a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in accountancy, both from the University of Illinois, Urbana, IL. Moss makes her home in Minneapolis.

Amy Phenix is the Senior Vice President of Public Affairs, Law Enforcement and Facilities for the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. She holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management and a Bachelor of Arts in politics and philosophy from Macalester College. Phenix is a resident of Minneapolis.

“It is the height of empowerment to bring together exceptionally accomplished women dedicated to our work in achieving racial and gender equity. I am inspired, in awe and cannot wait to get started with this new cohort,” says YWCA Minneapolis President and CEO Shelley Carthen Watson.

This cohort will serve on the Board of Directors of YWCA Minneapolis through June 2025. If they choose to do so, members may serve a second consecutive three-year term. Nominations to the board may be made to Chief Development Officer, Hayley Mueller.
