Returning to the Indoor Triathlon After Two Long Years
March 15, 2022
March 6, 2022 has been a date many triathletes have been waiting for. After two long years, our Indoor Triathlon returned! We caught up with not only triathletes, but also some of our amazing volunteers who help make our Indoor Triathlons possible.
“It’s nice to be out and with people who are all striving to reach the same goal, said triathlete Emily. This was my first triathlon in five years and it was such a blast! The energy at YWCA is so positive.”
“The energy at YWCA is so positive.”
“I’ve completed both of YWCA Minneapolis’ Indoor and Women’s Triathlon’s before, says Erin [left], but, this year was Nicole’s [right] first triathlon! Nicole’s a better swimmer than I am, but overall it was nice to have a buddy throughout the race.”
“I probably would’ve quit if I didn’t have Erin by my side to help motivate me!” — Nicole
Two of our wonderful volunteers, Aliyah Baker (left) and Ashley Martinez (right), graciously donated their time to ensure runners had a smooth event day. Aliyah has quite the connection to our organization as her relatives, Anissa Watkins and Vanessa Watkins-Morris make up the friendly front desk faces you see at our YWCA Midtown location. “I’ve been involved with YWCA Minneapolis my whole life. Growing up I attended YWCA Minneapolis Children’s Center at Midtown as a child and now I’m in Girls Inc. Eureka!” said Aliyah.
“One of my family members also works at the YWCA Midtown front desk, Jedet Martinez,” said Ashley. “I’m a member of YWCA and enjoy working out and weightlifting.”
Congrats to all our triathletes! It was great to see you all work hard and finish strong!
