A Fun, Upbeat Volunteer Experience with YWCA

In this blog post, one of our volunteers, Hannah, shares about her experiences volunteering with YWCA at the Resource Hub. Read on to hear her story!I have loved my experience as a translator for YWCA's Resource Hub. Getting to speak with members of the community and use my Spanish language skills to bridge a language barrier has easily become one of my favorite things to do. I know that it is difficult to try to communicate when others do not speak your language, and it gives me joy to know that I can make other people's lives easier by allowing them to fully communicate their needs.

A Fun, Upbeat Volunteer Environment

YWCA Minneapolis provides volunteers with organized instructions, and every week the Resource Hub runs smoothly. I love how they do their best to ensure that there is a fun, upbeat volunteer environment. While we are packing kits and prepping for distribution, they play music and encourage us to socialize. More than that, they make sure that we are always taken care of with snacks and water. Volunteering with YWCA is truly fun, and I look forward to it every week.

Feeling Lucky to Be a Part of YWCA

Moreover, the work that the YWCA Resource Hub is doing for the community is incredible. They are providing resources to our community in great need, especially during this pandemic. Because of their work, community members have consistent access to hygiene products. Most weeks they also have an abundance of fresh and non-perishable food that is distributed to anyone who could use it. YWCA Resource Hub is an amazing resource, and I feel lucky to have been a part of it!
