This year’s It’s Time to Talk: Forums on Race™ event will be one for the books — we are expanding to a half-day summit featuring keynote presenter Dr. Marc Lamont Hill and breakout sessions with local activist presenters Dr. Joi Lewis and Kyle "Guante" Tran Myhre. Dr. Marc Lamont Hill

Dr. Marc Lamont Hill is one of the leading intellectual voices in the country.He hosts BET News, The Grio, Al Jazeera UpFront, and the Coffee & Books podcast. An award-winning journalist, Dr. Hill has received numerous prestigious awards from the National Association of Black Journalists, GLAAD, and the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences.Dr. Hill is a presidential professor at the City University of New York Graduate Center, teaching courses in Anthropology, Urban Education and Middle Eastern Studies. Prior to that, he held positions at Morehouse College, Temple University and Columbia University.Since his days as a youth in Philadelphia, Dr. Hill has been a social justice activist and organizer. He has worked on campaigns to end the death penalty, abolish prisons, and release numerous political prisoners. Dr. Hill has also worked in solidarity with human rights movements worldwide. He is the founder and director of The People’s Education Center in Philadelphia and the owner of Uncle Bobbie’s Coffee & Books.

She is the author of the wildly successful book, "Healing: The Act of Radical Self-Care." Her work is deeply informed by growing up in East St. Louis, Illinois, and is grounded in healing justice.She is a “bodyworker” for the collective body (systems) and individual bodies (self). Kyle “Guante” Tran Myhre
Kyle"Guante" Tran Myhre is a Minneapolis poet, educator and activist. His work explores the relationships between narrative, power and resistance. Kyle’s performed worldwide, from the United Nations to music festivals like Eaux Claires and Soundset to countless colleges, universities and conferences. As a member of two National Poetry Slam championship teams, Kyle also completed his Master's studies at the University of Minnesota with a focus on spoken word, critical pedagogy and social justice education; in that spirit, his programs use poems as doorways into dialogue, critical thinking and community-building.
