Legacy Campaign Profile: Kim Edelman

Kim is more than a donor to the YWCA of Minneapolis – she has served six years on our Board of Directors, was the first board member liaison to the Girls Inc.® program, and now serves on the Public Policy Committee. Her experience as an epidemiologist for the Minnesota Department of Health helped us see the need for the Swim for Change program, which teaches valuable skills to young, inexperienced swimmers.

Kim has taken the Total Immersion swimming lessons and participated in our annual Women’s Triathlon. She has competed in the over-40 basketball league held at our Midtown location, and has experienced the grueling Boot Camp class.

Kim supports the YWCA because she knows how it helps grow and sustain our community. The YWCA’s Early Childhood Education classes provide the educational foundation that children need to thrive and succeed in school, and beyond. The Girls & Youth programs develop young leaders in the community. The Women’s Wellness programs offer opportunities targeted to women, including the CREW program, providing gentle exercise to women recovering from all types of cancer.

By making a planned gift, Kim is ensuring that the YWCA continues to be a leader in high-quality and innovative programming, for children, youth and families. It’s her wish that the YWCA is acknowledged for offering programs and services that build a strong, vibrant community, in addition to being a great place to get fit.
