Season of Giving
In December, YWCA Minneapolis partnered with Delta Dental of Minnesota to get toys for our children. Each child made a paper ornament and wrote their name and one item they requested on the back of the ornament, and our staff passed these along to the Delta Dental of Minnesota team. Through Delta’s holiday “Give a Smile” Toy Drive, they gifted 150 children from our Early Childhood Education centers (ages 3 - 10 years old) a present! The Delta Dental of Minnesota staff took pictures and made a project out of it at their staff holiday party. There was a lot of excitement when sorting out the gifts and getting it to our centers in the end, it was a wonderful gift for families.

“We hosted a parent event here at Ecolab and heard from several parents about how much of a blessing the Delta Dental of Minnesota gifts were. Says, the center director at Ecolab, Catherine Mahler. “One family with four children at our center received three gifts from Delta Dental of Minnesota and were extremely grateful because they did not have much to give. These gifts really helped them out. All the children, of course, were VERY happy with their gifts and very excited to see them in their cubbies when they arrived. A big thank you from Ecolab!”

“My child was beaming when he saw the gift in his cubby. He said, “Who gave me that?!” I told him it was a secret present. All he wanted for Christmas was a toy cat and dog and when he saw the cuddly black puppy, he was so happy. “He’s very very soft,” he said. We’ve named him “Bear” and he’s now our family pet.” — Parent

So it was amazing to have the gifts for her. She was even more excited because she got something she really wanted, which was a gabby’s dollhouse. She was so happy and thankful. A special thanks to our wonderful volunteers! Because of them, we were able to get the presents to the centers in time to take home for the holiday. There is no better feeling in the world than being able to help each other as a community, and we are proud to share in that season of giving!
