WEM Foundation: Helping Bridge the Opportunity Gap in Minnesota and Beyond

YWCA Minneapolis is proud to partner with the WEM Foundation, which supports our Girls and Youth afterschool and summer programs. The WEM Foundation is one of the earliest supporters of our Eureka! program – investing in the program since its inception in 2015. Eureka! is a five-year cohort program designed to spark girls’ interest in STEM and prepare them for college and careers. Because WEM took a chance on this new, innovative program, 125+ girls have participated over the years and the first girls to complete all five years in the program will graduate this spring. The WEM Foundation is always looking for opportunities to make connections in the community and to collaborate and learn from each other. Recently, the WEM Foundation helped connect YWCA Minneapolis to We Share Solar. Through this partnership, YWCA girls learn about solar power and engineering while building 12-volt DC solar suitcases, which will be distributed to students at the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya. A few months ago, the WEM Foundation included YWCA Minneapolis in a discussion with other youth-serving organizations and schools about improving reading and literacy among pre-K – third-grade students.

“YWCA Minneapolis is an important champion for change in the community. We need their programs, experience and voice at the table to ensure that more young people have opportunities to reach their full potential.” - Jim Hield, president, WEM Foundation

Thank you, WEM Foundation for your support, partnership and commitment to giving young people more opportunities to thrive!Learn More about YWCA Minneapolis
