Established & Dynamic

YWCA Minneapolis is established — and dynamic. We’re a place where 84-year-olds complete triathlons — and babies take first steps; where girls and youth gain confidence — and adults build community. People across different generations, socioeconomic backgrounds, racial and cultural communities, and genders find meaning and belonging in our multifaceted work. We are proud of our reach and impact — and grateful for your support.

The latter half of this fiscal year 2023, we spent in an intense strategic planning exercise, led by McKinsey & Company to map out how to best meet community needs and build on our strengths and our 132-year legacy.

Everyone connected to YWCA Minneapolis contributes to our success. With you, we’ll emerge fiscally stronger and best positioned to pursue our mission.

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

“YWCA is part of the fabric of our family’s life…our children’s curiosity, confidence, warmth and so much more would be much less. It has been a constant through this incredibly stressful time.”

— ECE Parent

GIRLS & YOUTH

“We women have not had very many opportunities [in STEM] up until the last 50 or so years. And now that we are, it’s time to rise up! Eureka! is going to reward me later in life.”

— Eureka! Participant

RACIAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC POLICY

“You may not be able to change the world, but you can change your community. Remember that your work in the public sector has the potential to make a positive difference in people’s lives; approach it purposefully, with a commitment to progress that endures.”

— Olaitan (Ola) Olanrewaju, Capitol Pathways Intern

HEALTH & WELLNESS

“Learning to swim as an adult isn’t for the faint of heart. Add to that the stereotypes around African Americans and our aptitude for swimming. I chose YWCA Minneapolis because I felt their mission statement would guarantee a positive experience and folks would understand my trepidations.”

— Mae, Swim Lesson Participant
