Julie Schlueter Engen is our vice president of human resources. She is responsible for all HR functions, including oversight of recruitment and retention and the development of operational strategies that nurture a strong positive employee-employer culture dedicated to our mission of achieving racial and gender equity and justice.
Julie brings to her role more than two decades of experience in the field of Human Resources, working for family-owned, public and private businesses, including director-level tenures at Stein Industries, Diversified Distribution Systems and Aspect Automation. Throughout her HR career, which she began in 1997, Julie planned, organized and directed all aspects of HR including recruiting and retention, total compensation, talent management and development, legal, employee relations and payroll. She also gained experience in mergers and acquisitions, oversight of facilities, sales and marketing.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Public Speaking from St. Olaf College. She is both a seasoned traveler and seasoned performer, continuing to flex her Mezzo/Alto singing voice, developed as an Ole, today with church groups, and for a period of time with the Minnesota Chorale. Mother of five, grandmother of four, Julie resides in the Mounds View/New Brighton area with her husband Gary, dog Elsa and cat Martin.
