3M Open donates funds to YWCA Minneapolis and YWCA St. Paul

PGA TOUR event supporting eight major charity partners to showcase the ‘Power of Community’

BLAINE, Minn. – 3M Open officials today presented YWCA Minneapolis and YWCA St. Paul $100,000 each and tournament staff assisted each facility in packing welcome baskets and supply kits for families and community members.Today’s efforts are part of the 3M Open Fund’s mission to assist select Minnesota charities and highlight the ‘Power of Community’ throughout the year.“We’re so proud to support the efforts of YWCA Minneapolis and YWCA St. Paul, organizations that aim to eliminate racism and empower women,” said Mike Welch, 3M Open Tournament Director. “Knowing that our gift will go directly to programs that impact these two initiatives is why the 3M Open Fund exists, and we look forward to working alongside them to impact real change.”“YWCA Minneapolis relies on community partnerships to create meaningful, lasting change,” said Kari Clarke, Chief Development Officer, YWCA Minneapolis. “This generous contribution from the 3M Open Fund will help build pathways to opportunity for youth, adults and their families across the Twin Cities. Funding from 3M Open will go to support YWCA’s Resource Hub, Girls Inc. Eureka! program, Circle of Women and YWCA’s signature fundraising event, which the 3M Open is Presenting Sponsor for this year.“To continue delivering programs and services designed to fight racism, gender inequity, homelessness, and employment and educational disparities, YWCA St. Paul depends on community support,” said Gaye Adams Massey, CEO of YWCA St. Paul. “Thank you to the 3M Open Fund for their generous donation that will help make an incredible impact on our community, and to the 3M Open volunteers for donating their time. You make our work possible, and we deeply appreciate your partnership and support.”At YWCA St. Paul, these funds will support the annual Sweet Success fundraiser held in June, as well as assist two programs managed by YWCA—Permanent Supportive Housing, which helps families who have experienced significant barriers resulting in long-term homelessness, and Career Pathways, which provides customized services and ongoing support focused on helping participants overcome obstacles to obtaining and sustaining employment.Prior to last year’s tournament, 3M Open officials announced that charitable giving efforts, on behalf of the tournament, would be $1.5 million directed toward local nonprofit organizations focused on supporting individuals impacted by COVID-19 and those fighting for social justice initiatives. Amid COVID-19 restrictions, Michael Thompson won the 2020 version by two strokes.  Minnesota’s only PGA TOUR event is contested at the TPC Twin Cities and will be held July 19-25, 2021.
