Resource Hub Distribution Ending May 1

April 7, 2021

We began the Resource Hub in June 2020 in response to the Midtown neighborhood becoming a food desert due to the destruction of businesses on Lake Street, as well as the increased economic hardships and disparities related to COVID-19. During this time, the primary function of the Resource Hub has been distributing basic need supplies. In recent months we also began supporting patrons with making connections to area community resources. Since June, we have served hundreds of individuals and families on a weekly basis. Our last day of distribution at YWCA's Resource Hub will be Saturday, May 1, 2021. In assessing a long-term plan for the program, we recognized that many organizations already do the great work of connecting people to food and supplies and have years of expertise in this area. We decided we could better serve our community by partnering with these organizations to guide neighbors to existing resources.YWCA Minneapolis will continue to pilot a smaller-scale Resource Hub program model focusing on resource navigation support. This program will initially be focused on connecting Girls and Youth participants and their families to community resources. It has been an honor to serve our community through the Resource Hub over the last year. Thank you to the many volunteers, donors, partners and supporters who have been part of this amazing effort. We know that this news may cause some disruption to our neighbors' lives. To help make the adjustment easier, we've developed an expansive resource list online that links to aid and support across the Twin Cities. Community members can also contact Kristen at kdasilva@ywcampls.org or call 612-999-7469 to get help finding food or supplies.View Community Resource List
