YWCA Minneapolis and PNC Celebrate Pianos on Parade

MEDIA ADVISORY:(Minneapolis, Minn.) – YWCA Minneapolis is excited to announce that its downtown location is a musical stop for the Minneapolis Downtown Council’s annual Pianos on Parade, sponsored by PNC Bank during the month of June.To celebrate the honor, young learners of YWCA’s nationally-accredited Early Childhood Education program will take their music lessons outdoors with piano accompaniment, Thursday, June 30, 12-12:30 pm in front of YWCA headquarters, 1130 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, MN 55403.President and CEO, Shelley Carthen Watson also will be on hand. “We are delighted that PNC included us in this year’s parade, as we absolutely embody their 2022 theme, “Children learning and growing make our community a beautiful place.” Placing a PNC piano here is a lesson in both performance and visual arts for our children. They engage with it musically, and were also invited to paint the piano, which they did with a tree and the words ‘diversity, education, empower,’ and ‘anti-bias’ forming its trunk!”YWCA takes pride in its Science Technology Engineering Arts and Math (STEAM) curriculum for preschoolers, all under the umbrella of our anti-bias curriculum, and we are proud to be recognized annually with National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation and the Four-Star Parent Aware rating for our ECE program.Members of the media are invited.Video clip:Event detailsDate: Thursday, June 30, 2022Time: Noon – 12:30 pmLocation: YWCA Minneapolis Downtown, 1130 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, MN ContactLisa RamirezStrategic Communications Specialist612.215.4107lramirez@ywcampls.orgAbout YWCA MinneapolisYWCA Minneapolis is a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating racism and empowering women and girls.
