YWCA Minneapolis Hosts 14th Annual Women’s Triathlon
MEDIA ADVISORY:
(Minneapolis, Minn.) YWCA Minneapolis will host its 14th annual Women’s Triathlon on Sunday, August 13, 8:00 am at Lake Nokomis.
Join us in celebrating the strength of all women at this year’s YWCA Women’s Triathlon. As the largest all-women triathlon in the country, the race attracts more than 1,200 participants ages 11 to 80+ with varying levels of experience, diverse backgrounds and powerful stories. Women and non-binary people who identify with womanhood challenge themselves to a swim, bike and run around Lake Nokomis. The event course is also para-friendly for adaptive athletes. Racers ages 11 and up participate in the SuperSprint and ages 14+ in the Sprint categories. This year’s community event will feature delicious offerings from popular food trucks, music and kids’ activities, as well as BIPOC- and women-owned businesses.
Last week YWCA Minneapolis announced we were once again responding to community needs and resetting our program priorities toward higher-impact programming, including Early Childhood Education, Girls and Youth, and Racial Justice and Public Policy, as well as reimagining our Midtown location as a community cultural hub. We remain committed to Health and Wellness and are consolidating our fitness operations to that location. As a trusted social justice organization with a history of supporting women and their families, we will continue to host the Women’s Triathlon every August. Proceeds from this event support the powerful community impact programs of YWCA Minneapolis.
YWCA Women's Triathlon is known as the most welcoming race and was voted Race of the Year in 2012, 2017 and 2019, drawing over 2,000 spectators and more than 200 volunteers each year! Join us and be a part of this inspiring experience on August 13!
