125th Year Anniversary Community Open House

On Sunday, October 2, YWCA Minneapolis celebrated 125 years of social justice programs and advocacy, and unveiled to the public the Downtown facility’s extensive top-to-bottom makeover.

The renovation, along with future programs and endowments, were made possible through YWCA’s $22.5 million Power to SoarTM fundraising campaign. Highlights of the campaign include corporate support from Cargill for the Cargill Center for Early Learning, along with contributions from Edward R. Bazinet Charitable Foundation, Best Buy Foundation, Carl and Eloise Pohlad Family Foundation, Target Foundation, U.S. Bank Foundation and Wells Fargo Foundation Minnesota.

YWCA Minneapolis’ Downtown facility has been a symbol of opportunity for the neighborhood since 1891, and has been located at its current Nicollet Mall address since 1929. The open house included self-guided tours, music, face painting, complimentary snacks and beverages, discounted membership and enrollment offers, giveaways, chair massages and fitness demos.

We have countless reasons to celebrate, including our longevity, groundbreaking programs and continued relevancy in the community.Thank you for helping YWCA Minneapolis strengthen communities for 125 years!
