Donate to the Emergency Fund

Consistent with the governor’s stay-at-home executive order to help stop the spread of COVID-19, YWCA Minneapolis will extend through the end of April temporary closures we implemented for some of our programs, including:

• Fitness centers, onsite classes and one-on-one services

• Early Childhood Education centers (ECE) except our Abbott Northwestern Hospital location

• Girls and Youth programming

However, in the face of this pandemic, YWCA Minneapolis continues to live its mission to eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all:

• We are continuing to provide child care services for families in critical sectors at our Abbott Northwestern Hospital location.

• While we look forward to restoring full fitness operations as soon as possible, we are quickly adapting our programs to online experiences. Join us for YWCA On Demand, fitness videos you can do at home. As we practice social distancing, you can count on YWCA Minneapolis to help you stay active, fit and connected! View fitness classes.

Our members play a vital role in helping to sustain the health of our organization, and provide fitness for all in our community. And we know that the relationships you have built are meaningful. So we ask that you stick with us and continue to invest in our community. Your April membership dues will be converted to a tax-deductible contribution. All other fees will not be charged. Learn more.

• We continue to stand in solidarity with our communities and are providing racial justice services through virtual platforms. In fact, we will lead upcoming conversations on health disparities, anti-Asian discrimination and actions we can take to narrow the disparities gap and confront xenophobia. Stay tuned for details.
• We are partnering with other local organizations to advocate for legislative action to protect Minnesota’s nonprofit organizations from the impact of this pandemic:

1. Nonprofits provide more than 13% of Minnesota’s jobs (MCN 2018 Economy Report)
2. Across Minnesota, nonprofits are on the front lines delivering critical services to families and individuals. Without services from organizations like ours, the impact of this pandemic on our communities’ most vulnerable will be even greater
3. Join Greater Twin Cities United Way, Ignite Afterschool and others to ask the Minnesota State Legislature to take action to support nonprofits in the COVID-19 response
4. Join a coalition of community partners in asking Minnesota State Legislators to advance emergency financial assistance for child care providers who continue to serve critical workers during this pandemic

• We will continue to serve as an information connector; sharing articles and community resources to help keep you and your family informed as we navigate our way through this pandemic together.

We recognize that these are extremely challenging times for all. We will continue to actively monitor the spread of coronavirus in our community and update you weekly, or more often as needed, as we assess the impact to our organization.
