Spring into Great Health

Spring has officially arrived and with it, the weather has started to get a little warmer. During this time many of us start to think about giving our houses a nice spring clean. But why not apply this same clean-up idea to our health and wellness routine? It is a popular practice to create New Year’s resolutions in January, but by the time spring comes around many of us are looking for some renewed focus in working towards those goals. Spring can be a great time to refresh and regenerate your work toward your health and wellness goals. There is no better day to start than today!Black woman outside exercising looking happyBelow is a list of tips and suggestions to help you spring clean your health and wellness routine:

1. Fitness mash-up

Shake up your regular workout routine by trying something new! This can help keep you from feeling burnt out or bored with your normal exercise.

2. Pump up the produce

Spring brings with it some fresh and tasty produce. Produce that is in season is fresher, tastes better and is filled with essential nutrients. This season, pick up some asparagus, radishes, rhubarb, spinach or green onions.

3. Breathe the fresh air

Warmer weather makes it easier to get outside to be active. Commit to an outdoor walk, hike, bike or other activity once a week to help you shake off your cabin fever.

4. Get your yard or neighborhood in shape

Start some of those yard projects that need to be done in the spring. You might just start getting your body in shape, too. If you don't have a yard, think about joining a neighborhood cleanup get-together to spruce up the block while you get your body moving.

5. Grill it up

Grilling is a great lean way to cook foods. Don’t limit it to just meats -- vegetables and some starches taste great when cooked on the grill, as well!

6. Spice up your life

Spices and fresh herbs are great for adding flavor to your food. Try some new flavor combinations to shake up your meal routine.

7. Freshen up your refreshment

Fresh produce can make great water infusions. Try using some of your in-season fruit to make a fun water infusion as a healthier alternative to sodas or other sugary drinks.

8. Spring cleaning remix

Turn on your favorite music while doing your spring cleaning and get moving.
