Four New Directors Join YWCA Minneapolis Board
Zeantra Jill Barclift - Professor of Law, Mitchell Hamline School of Law
Zeantra Jill Barclift was named interim director of Hamline University School of Law’s Business Law Institute in November 2012. Since 2002, she taught a wide range of courses at Hamline Law and Mitchell Hamline School of Law, including core courses in corporations, corporate finance and securities regulation. She also taught smaller seminars in corporate ethics, preventive law and corporate practice. Her scholarly research and writing has explored the role of corporate officers in corporate governance, the role of internal lawyers in corporate governance, and the intersection of social science theory and corporate governance. Prior to teaching at Hamline Law, she was executive vice president, secretary, and general counsel of a financial services company in Minneapolis. Ms. Barclift holds a Bachelor of Science from Northwestern University and a Juris Doctor from Columbia University School of Law.
Cheryl Cooper Boyd - Self-Employed Educational and Organizational Consultant
Ms. Cooper Boyd retired from The Blake School as Director of Financial Assistance and Assistant Director of Admissions in 2014. During her 12-year tenure, the school doubled its commitment to economic diversity and broadened the range and scope of its commitment to pluralism. Prior to moving to Minnesota, Ms. Cooper Boyd served as Executive Director of the Vocational Information Program, a career counseling, guidance, mentoring and tutoring program for over 200 at-risk Cleveland Public School students annually. She also served as Vice President, Operations and Administration of Ohio Works/Cleveland Works, a welfare-to-work initiative of the State of Ohio. She served two terms on the Board of Trustees of her alma mater, Bucknell University and as a member of the Bucknell Alumni Board. Ms. Cooper Boyd is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and has served at the local, regional and national levels for over 30 years. She currently serves on the sorority’s Documents Review and Management Committee, and the board of the Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery. Cheryl holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science and sociology from Bucknell and a Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law.
Deborah Hilke - Principal Litigation Counsel, Medtronic, Inc.
Ms. Hilke has a 20-plus year career as an attorney with extensive experience in client counseling, litigation, litigation management, training, negotiations and mediations in the areas of employment and general commercial law. Ms. Hilke joined Medtronic in 2007 and provides advice and counsel, effective legal support to business units regarding employment-related issues and manages negotiations and mediations in strategic and cost-effective manners. Prior to joining Medtronic, she served as Senior Counsel, Law and Ethics for H.B. Fuller Company for five years. Ms. Hilke served as an Assistant Minnesota Attorney General from 1995 – 1996 where she handled complex employment litigation and advised Commissioners and managers. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from St. Olaf College and a Juris Doctor from University of Minnesota Law School.
Loan Huynh - Shareholder, Immigration Group, Fredrikson & Byron
Ms. Huynh is a shareholder in the Immigration Group at Fredrikson & Byron and has been practicing immigration and nationality law since 1996. She is a frequent speaker at national conferences and has written extensively on I-9 compliance and worksite investigations. Ms. Huynh’s practice is focused on employment-based immigration and immigration compliance (I-9 audits, E-verify, and DOL audits) for a broad range of clients from Fortune 500 companies, mid-sized companies, to individual investors/entrepreneurs. She partners with her clients in developing practical immigration strategies to meet their nonimmigrant and/or immigrant visa needs and goals. Ms. Loan also has expertise in family-based immigration, asylum, and naturalization matters. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History from University of Houston and a Juris Doctor from University of Houston Law Center.
